Kihara includes four portraits of late Fa‘afafine individuals to honour their lives as Fa‘afafine and their contribution to Samoan society.
Fa‘afafine Ancestors
Fa‘afafine legends Shevon Matai and Tootooali`i Roger Stanley were involved in the Fa‘afafine beauty pageants. Their stories are published in Sāmoan Queer Lives, 2018, edited by Kihara and Sāmoan artist and poet Dan Taulapapa McMullin.
Portraits are also displayed of Memea Eleitino Ma`aelopa, a pillar of the Pacific Island community and advocate of equality, and Tuilagi Seiuli Ailani Allan Alo Va`ai, Pacific choreographer and artistic pioneer.
